Appraisal Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Services

For companies and entrepreneurs operating in the modern business climate, appraisal and valuation related disputes and dispute resolution have almost become inescapable aspects of day-to-day function. As firms expand their global reach into new business areas and geographical locations, the likelihood of becoming embroiled in potentially damaging commercial valuation disputes rises exponentially. For firms that find themselves locked in a valuation related dispute, litigation was the most likely method of recourse. However, a number of other options are gaining prominence. EDS' Appraisal Umpire Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services have experienced a significant rise in recent years. Corporates and entrepreneurs, large and small, may pursue appraisal arbitration, mediation, and adjudication as the means of settling valuation disputes across most jurisdictions.

We provide Appraisal Umpire ADR services in all disciplines of valuation and asset classes, tangible and intangible, i.e., Real Property, Business Valuation, Intellectual Property, Personal Property, and Machinery and Technical Services to clients throughout the world. Our services have helped resolve Billions-of-Dollars at issue.

Our Appraisal Umpire ADR unit is based at a major hub of international Alternative Dispute Resolution in Miami, Florida, USA. Our discipline-specific and multidisciplinary ADR adjudicators are uniquely qualified—internationally accredited—RICS/ASA/MAI valuation instructors and well-published luminaries in the global valuation community. Our Appraisal Umpire ADR experts include Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and International Valuation Standards (IVS) and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors ‘Red Book’ instructors and Accredited Expert Witnesses, Value Adjustment Board (VAB) Magistrates, and former state/federal appraisal regulatory compliance officers.

We specialize in handling complex multidisciplinary appraisal / valuation-related matters involving two or more disciplines of valuation. As example; a partnership may seek to dissolve a business relationship wherein multiple disciplines of valuation are at issue e.g., Real Property, Business Valuation, and Machinery and Equipment. Unlike other, lesser, appraisal umpire services, EDS will assign one of its accredited valuation experts from each respective discipline at issue to contribute to the process. This insures independent and credible findings that will withstand challenges and scrutiny from regulatory, judicial and taxing authorities.

Our Appraisal Umpire ADR services are a cost effective, out-of-court, alternative dispute resolution format that helps parties resolve complex and contentious valuation matters in a fair, balanced, and unbiased way.
